Terms of Use
By downloading or using Spotted, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
1. What Spotted does
Spotted lets you submit a photo and searches public web sources for matching images, to help you verify whether someone you're interacting with online is genuine, and to check your own online presence. Results are drawn from third-party public sources and are provided for informational purposes only.
2. Acceptable use — this matters
Spotted exists to help you stay safe. It is not a tool for surveillance, and we do not condone harassment, stalking, or any disregard for another person's privacy or dignity. You agree to use Spotted only for lawful, personal safety and verification purposes. You must not use Spotted to:
- stalk, harass, intimidate, dox, threaten, or track anyone;
- monitor or investigate a person without a legitimate personal-safety reason;
- identify, profile, or build a record of people you don't personally interact with;
- make decisions about someone's employment, housing, credit, insurance, or other legal rights;
- re-publish, sell, or share search results to expose, shame, or harm anyone;
- violate any person's privacy rights, publicity rights, or any applicable law.
By running a search, you confirm you have a genuine personal-safety reason to do so and that your use complies with the laws that apply to you. You alone are responsible for how you use Spotted and its results. Misuse may result in immediate termination and may expose you to civil or criminal liability.
If you believe someone is misusing Spotted, or you want a search involving your own image reviewed, contact hello@spottedapp.net and we will act on it.
3. No guarantee of accuracy
Search results come from third-party public sources and matching is probabilistic. Spotted does not guarantee that results are accurate, complete, or up to date, and a match (or absence of a match) is not proof of anyone's identity, character, or intentions. Do not rely on Spotted as your sole basis for any decision about your safety — trust your instincts and take normal precautions.
4. Accounts
You sign in with Apple. You're responsible for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete account.
5. Subscriptions
- Spotted offers auto-renewing subscriptions (weekly, with an optional free trial) and a one-time lifetime purchase.
- Price and terms are shown on the paywall before you buy. A weekly subscription auto-renews at the stated price until canceled.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings; the subscription renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Purchases are handled by Apple and subject to Apple's Media Services terms.
6. Intellectual property
The Spotted app, brand, and content are ours or our licensors'. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose.
7. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
Spotted is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for how you or others use search results. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold Spotted harmless from any claims, damages, or costs arising out of your use of the app or your breach of these Terms — including any misuse of search results or infringement of another person's rights.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, especially the Acceptable Use section.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms and will post the new effective date. Continued use means acceptance.
